Which control platform fits?

Crestron, Lutron, Control4 and Savant are all proven. The right one is the one that fits the house, the way you live in it and how long you'll stay. They differ in how far they scale, how they feel day to day, and how they're programmed and supported. We're hardware agnostic, so we choose on requirements.

What is each platform best at?

  • Crestron scales furthest. It runs large homes and commercial buildings alike, and every screen and scene is programmed for the project, so it suits owners who want everything to behave exactly as drawn.
  • Lutron is the reference for lighting and shading. Its keypads and shades work on their own or under any of the other three, which is why it appears in so many homes alongside them.
  • Control4 connects the widest range of everyday devices, and changes after handover are quick to make. A good fit for a whole home that shares one remote and one app.
  • Savant puts the experience first: a polished app, scenes built around rooms and moments, and power management on the homes that need it.

What decides the right one?

  • The size of the property and the number of rooms that need control.
  • What you already own: a theater, a security system or shades you want to keep.
  • Who changes things later. Some owners want to adjust scenes themselves; others want them set once and left alone.
  • The long-term cost of ownership: support, updates and parts over ten years, not the price of the first remote.

Does the brand matter more than the design?

Usually not. A well drawn, well programmed system on any of the four will outlast a badly planned one on the most expensive. What matters is one control philosophy for the whole house, keypads engraved in plain language, and a team that answers when something drifts.

How do we choose?

We recommend on requirements, never on rebates, and put the reasoning in writing. The answer usually comes out of discovery, before anything is drawn. See home automation and control and the platforms we work with.

Questions

Can Lutron work with Crestron, Control4 or Savant?

Yes. Lutron lighting and shades connect to all three, so the choice of control system doesn't limit the lighting.

Can we change control systems later?

Usually, but it means new programming and often new keypads and processors, so choosing well at the start costs less.

Which smart home system is easiest to use?

The one programmed around how you live. Any of the four is simple to use when the scenes and keypads are designed for the household.
